The area addressed in the competition is located in Prague 10 Municipal district in the cadastral area of Vršovice. The core of the area is a triangular urban block between Kodaňská, Kavkazská and Moldavská Streets, with the Kodaňská 4D Center administrative building dating from the 1960s, formerly the foreign trade enterprise Chemapol-Investa. The new proposal for this site should build upon the surrounding block structure.
For the purposes of the Competition, the area is divided into the Competition Site and Competition Area. Different requirements and levels of design detail are set for each of these zones.
The Competition Site is delineated by Kodaňská, Kavkazská and Moldavská streets. It includes both the plot between these streets – where a new urban block with a kindergarten will be developed – and the adjoining sections of the streets themselves, where the design of public spaces will be addressed. The Site is located on a slope with an elevation difference of approximately 14 meters between its northern and southwestern corners.
The Competition Area is defined as the north side of Kodaňská Street and a passage through the current ambulance services complex to 28. pluku Street. Competitors will address this area only conceptually, creating an inspirational basis for the local government’s decision-making regarding the further development of this area.
